Catholic Scouting at 1310 West Main Street, Lexington, KY 40508-2048 US - Home

Welcome to Your Source for Catholic Programs for Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts!

The Diocese of Lexington Catholic Committee on Scouting provides support for both Boy Scout and Girl Scout programs throughout the diocese.

The values taught in Scouting are the same found in the Gospels. Scouting is an effective way to help Catholic youths do their duty to God and to their country. Scouting builds character and teaches devotion to God in an environment that provides wholesome fun under the guidance of strong adult role models. The scouting programs provide a wonderful channel to involve youth in the life of Catholic parishes.

Find out more about the Scouts and their activities throughout the Diocese of Lexington on this website, by clicking on the buttons at the left of the page:

NFCYM and GSUSA: Concern and Conversation

Several issues have arisen in the past two years that have caused some leaders and organizations to question the relationship between GSUSA and the Catholic Church.  The  GSUSA and National Federation for Catholic Youth Ministry, through the National Catholic Committee on Girls Scouts and Camp Fire, have been holding many discussions about these issues.  More information can be found on the NCCGSCF page at http://www.nccgscf.org/

At the National Catholic Youth Conference in Indianapolis, officials of the Girl Scouts of the USA hosted a breakfast for a number of bishops and diocesan youth directors from around the US in order to discuss some of these issues. This document lists answers to some frequently asked questions about the GSUSA program and also outlines some of the action steps currently underway to provide a framework for a cooperative relationship between our Catholic dioceses, host parishes and local Girl Scouts Councils
